David and Katie’s wedding ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Cleveland, and their The Union Club Cleveland wedding reception was on a cold day in December, but that certainly didn’t dull the sparkle of this festive day!

This easy-going couple, who met online while living in downtown Cleveland, is just the sweetest. After photographing both of his sisters’ weddings, I was honored to be asked to photograph a third wedding for David’s family.

David and Katie’s ceremony was at Saint John the Evangelist in Cleveland. Located downtown, this magnificent cathedral boasts stunning architecture. They had their reception at The Union Club Cleveland. An elegant multipurpose location with modern conveniences, this venue dates back over 100 years.

David and Katie live in Lakewood now, but Cleveland is an integral part of their love story, so it was important to them to hit up several downtown portrait locations. When reviewing the list of their top six places to take photos, I recommended choosing their favorite three so we wouldn’t feel rushed. They later told me they were glad we went this route so they had time to enjoy themselves. We visited E. 4th (outside The Corner Alley, where their first date was), Edgewater Park because David loves the Cleveland script sign and skyline, and the iconic Playhouse Square area.

The Union Club was decorated beautifully with a wintry and sophisticated vibe. Their wedding in December gave a festive ambiance that added to the day’s excitement. In addition to having a wedding cake, they had a fun dessert bar for their guests to enjoy. Family and friends joined them for laughter and dancing at the end of their big day.

David and Katie got married on a super special day, as it was my birthday! Everyone was so sweet throughout the day and kept wishing me a happy birthday. I was honored to spend my birthday doing my favorite thing on the planet: documenting a great couple’s wedding day.
