Why I Waited to Post: Fighting Recency Bias

There’s a psychological concept called recency bias—the idea that we tend to favor the most recent experience simply because it’s fresh in our minds. As a photographer, I feel this all the time. It’s easy to walk away from a wedding thinking, That was my favorite one yet, just because I was emotionally in it and recently edited the gallery.

So I waited. Several weeks after delivering Lindsay & Hyo’s gallery, I sat with their images before writing this post. I wanted to see which moments stuck with me—which photos still pulled me in without the influence of “just-shot glow.”

And even after that time… I still had a hard time narrowing it down. Every frame from this day felt honest, joyful, and full of soul.
