Hi! This blog is a great place to see highlights from weddings, which I think is more helpful than viewing a portfolio comprised of random favorites from a million different weddings. Please keep in mind that I deliver around 1,000 edited photos per wedding, so these posts are just 50-ish photos I liked from these weddings. Let me know if you'd like to see an entire wedding gallery—I'm happy to send you a link!
Location is one of the first essential considerations for a wedding or engagement photo session. There are many options in northeast Ohio, so today, I’m sharing my Top 3 Wedding Portrait Locations in Downtown Cleveland. These locations provide an array of styles and vibes for the look you’re creating; all are free and open to the public.
Wade Oval is one of my favorite locations for capturing wedding pictures in Cleveland and is known as one of the leading northeast public spaces. It is situated in a great location in the rapidly growing University Circle neighborhood. Being close to the art museum offers a natural ambiance with trees providing shade on sunny days and spectacular architecture.
The Wade Oval area offers a seven-acre park with convenient parking or public transportation. The area is free to the public and features plenty of outdoor beauty with water in the background, stone water fountains, and plenty of green space to take your photos. If we brave the cold and snow, an ice rink is available from December through February for those cute couple pictures. Because of the beauty and accessibility, Wade Oval makes the list of my Top 3 Wedding Portrait Locations in Downtown Cleveland.
Another preferred location is Mall B. There are many popular places in downtown Cleveland close to this terrific photo spot. Mall B is a grassy, peaceful place with a skyline backdrop and extraordinary architectural buildings. This is a great area with endless photographic opportunities for the look we’re aiming to create for my wedding couples!
Close to Mall B is the Fountain of Eternal Life sculpture. This 35-foot piece of art is a fountain and statue known as War Memorial Fountain and Peace Arising from the Flames of War. This centerpiece is a bronze figure of a man ascending to the heavens in search of eternal peace after escaping war’s flames. Capturing a couple’s photo in front of this monument is an incredible experience with the fountain spouting, the grand buildings in the back, and the gorgeous sky behind the memorial.
Voinovich Park is the last of my Top 3 Portrait Locations in downtown Cleveland. This park is an iconic landmark of Cleveland, and photographing couples here is always a delight! You can enjoy a serene, quiet area with Lake Erie nearby, and on the other side of the park is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center, and the recognizable Cleveland script sign.
Voinovich Park offers 4.5 acres of beauty at the north end of the East Ninth Street Pier. Its location right near the shore provides a great space for relaxing by the water or grabbing an area of green space within the park. Beautiful lake views are perfect for wedding photos, especially when boats pass by.
In Cleveland, you can find many picture-perfect spots for capturing your special moments. In my experience as a Northeast Ohio wedding photographer, these are my top 3 wedding portrait locations in Downtown Cleveland.
